Four Weeks to Your Best 5K Success Stories
I loved Roy's running class. I thought the drills were really great and I enjoyed being out in the park in a group. I have to admit that I was a beginning runner at the beginning of the 4 weeks and I ended a beginner runner...I didn't feel that my endurance really got much better, but my form did (honestly, I didn't have much of a form to rely on to begin with) and I just thought the sessions were really run. They got me feeling like I could run, a feeling that had always eluded me in the past, and I've kept it up to some extent as my training got off track with an ankle injury. I'd totally take it again in the future. Just an overall great time and super workout.

Thanks to you Roy, I did much better in my half marathon than I thought I would. Not that it was easy, but the drills made the run feel more effortless. After so many drills, I didn't have to remind myself to move my arms!
My 'chip time' was 2:31. This was my first 1/2 since my foot injury and weight gain. I was running a 13-minute mile before your class. I did better, felt better and was not tired for the rest of the day.
I will definitely sign up for your class again. Thank you!

Having taken many Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp classes I decided to try the "4 Weeks to Your Best 5k" running course. Initially I was skeptical that this class would only be suitable for absolute beginners. However ,I was more than pleasantly surprised. This class is great for long -ime and new runners alike. I doubt there is anything that Roy doesn't know about running. He has many years of experience and knows all the techniques/drills used by the pros to improve technique, stamina and speed. I have read a number of running books, yet still managed to learn a lot more from Roy. He manages to push you just enough to continually improve upon your personal best, yet not too much that you get scared, frustrated or injured. I can honestly say that I have never in my life been able to run as fast as I have done in this class. There is no way I could have done so without Roys great coaching. I am now looking forward to my next race to see what a difference this course has made. I would recommend this class to any level of runner who wants to improve on their technique and learn to run like a pro. Woo hoo another great BBB class ..... Roy's Running Class Rocks!!!

This class was really great. Roy is a great instructor, very enthusiastic and thoughtful about each participant in the class. He was very aware of each of our levels of fitness and our capabilities and was able to personalize the drills while still maintaining a good group dynamic. I am training for a race in May, and am thinking that I will probably re-take the class in April just for a refresher and make sure I am practicing everything I learned.

Although I've been a jogger for years, through Roy's class, I learned how elite runners run. I learned the techniques and the psychology behind running - and I learned useful workout gear and nutrition tips to boot. Plus, Roy is always happy and upbeat - a great motivational teacher.

Let me begin by saying that I was never interested in learning how to run. My running experience was limited to running for the bus or the ice cream truck and that was it. I began taking the Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp classes to lose weight and improve my health and part of those classes is running spans on the bridge between drills. Being out of shape and overweight meant I was always the last one to show up at the bridge posts, late for the drills, dreadfully tired and out of breath and would miss half the workout! l needed to improve. Besides, runners always seem to smile and wax poetic when they talked about running; there had to be something there that I was missing. I decided I would give running a shot. I tried to run on my own, but I didn't feel like I was "getting it."
When I heard Roy Alexander was going to be teaching a running class through the Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp I thought that if I was really going to put in the time and effort to learn how to run that I should give myself the benefit of learning from a professional. Believe me, Roy is a pro! He was interested in my running habits and schedule, the amount of time I'd been running, my type of running, my goals, and took note of my comfort level. He taught me everything from buying the correct running shoes to the basics of running, nutrition, injury prevention and treatment. Once I had some correction on my form and a little encouragement, running became easier and, dare I say, fun! Now, I get it. Not only am I having fun, I'm improving my fitness level and losing weight.
I have gone from running less than a mile a month to running over 18 miles last week! I'm looking forward to improving my form and my speed and I can't wait for the next class! If I can do this, you can do this! Seriously!
