Snack on this: Eggs on bread with Avocado

Real food is better than snacks or bars when it comes to satisfying a craving or balancing your blood sugar. When you’re hungry, your goal should always be blood sugar control. If you eat too many carbs, your blood sugar spikes and puts your body into fat storage mode. If you eat too little protein, you’ll be hungry a lot. If you skimp on fat you’ll want to eat more food to make up for the lack of flavor and satiation.

Here’s a very simple snack that I love eating. It’s real food, totally satisfying because it hits the spot and perfectly balances your blood sugar levels, keeping your body fat burning, while shutting off your hunger: Eggs on bread with avocado.

Use the grainiest bread you can find – the more fiber, the better – and toast it. Then slice up two hard-boiled eggs and 1/4 avocado. Place the sliced eggs and avocado on the bread, add a little pepper and cumin and enjoy.
